BATH COFFEE FESTIVAL

If you like coffee as much as I do and you're looking for something fun to do in May this year, why not visit the UK's first ever coffee festival, held in Bath on 15th/16th May.

Day 30

As mentioned I have been away the last couple of days, this involves a lot of driving up the M4 and M5 in my trusty if elderly Dave (blue Nissan Micra) so todays pic is a sort of travel collage.

Day 29

For the last couple of days I have been staying at my Mum and Dad's for a 'second Christmas'. Whenever I stay with them my Dad brings me a cup of coffee and 2 pieces of chocolate before I get up (spoilt...me!?) This is such a treat that I thought it deserved to be todays bit of illustration, featuring my Dad and his coffee pot!

Day 28

Back to the art history books. Today's pic is inspired by Paul Klee who liked to 'take a line for a walk'. I haven't done him justice at all, he did some gorgeous paintings. I wonder when I'm trying to recreate their techniques in Corel painter or photoshop if these old artists would be horrified or interested. I like to think they'd want to have a go!

Day 27

Bit lacking in time and inspiration today...drew a very quick scrappy drawing of coffee pot in his natural habitat and then coloured it in photoshop and played around with some texture.

Day 26

Boxing day already and over quarter way through the 100 days!! Got up early to do this one ...I am one of the lucky peeps who gets to go to work on Boxing Day!! :)

Day 25

Ferrero Rocher for breakfast....
it must be Christmas!!

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Day 24

I'd like to say I got a passing child to do this one but no....it's all my own work!! Happy Christmas Eve!!

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Day 23

Day 23 - Pop Art
Think maybe the spots are too small...looks like they have measles but no more time to play.
Happy Christmas eve, eve everybody!

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Day 22

How else do you think they got the energy to hunt bison?!

Monday, December 21, 2009

Day 21

This is something they get you to do in art classes
- draw an object in one line without taking the pencil off the paper.

Sunday, December 20, 2009

Day 20

What my coffee pot would look like if it were a Disney princess!

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Day 19

Back to Corel painter for todays pic. Heavily inspired by Rene Magritte (if he were alive today I'd be worried!)

One thing this project had done is make me pick up Norbert Lynton's very dry 'The Story of Modern Art' which was on my reading list for uni. Bought it in the first week and never opened it once, but it's coming in handy now!

Day 18

Guess the theme!

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Day 17

I love retro advertising. 'Mad Men' is one of my all time favourite TV shows. This one done in illustrator again which must be a lot easier than the old days of actual cutting with scissors and pasting with real glue!!

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Day 16

Today I thought I would introduce you to coffee pots cool best friend...travel cafetiere mug! I found a brilliant tutorial showing how to make a photo look old using photoshop and so that is my creative lesson of the day.

Day 15

'still life with fruit'

Coffee pot has gone all traditional! My main aim in this project was to try out lots of different creative styles I wouldn't normally use. This was done in Corel painter, I'm too impatient to use real paint!!

Monday, December 14, 2009

Day 14

A suggested theme
for the '100 days'
project is Superheroes,
so I have created
'SuperCoffeeGirl'
who can respond to
any lack of caffeine
related disaster at
lightning speed!

Day 13

This was a pretty boring pen and watercolour sketch that I scanned into photoshop and then had a play with some effects, and it came out quite.......purple!

Day 12

What a nice surprise to be featured on the 100days blog!
http://www.hundreddays.net/?p=126
Really enjoying the challenge and seeing what everyone's up to!

Todays picture isn't inspired by anyone in particular but by all the wonderful children's picture books I am surrounded by at work!

Drawn on scrapbook paper in ink then coloured in photoshop.

Day 11

Day 11

Manga boy has a cup of coffee

initially hand drawn and scanned then traced and coloured in illustrator. And yes his coffee has super anti-gravity properties!!

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Day 10

Inspired by one of my faves - Joan Miro
illustrator and photoshop

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Day 9

'Coffee Pot with Triangle'

Inspired by Carlo Carra's 'Still life with Triangle'. Hope he wouldn't mind. I like to think he'd be interested to see a digital version! Drawn in illustrator and finished in photoshop.

Day8

coffee pot tessellations

Monday, December 7, 2009

Day 7

Not sure what style you'd call this. It started off being inspired by posters from 60s and 70s but now it looks a bit African. Hmmm. I may take the first idea further later on. Like the colour combination though.

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Day 6

My coffee pot got Andy Warholed!!

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Day 5

A kind of aboriginal sort of ethnicy naivey style. At least it's colourful!!!

Friday, December 4, 2009

Day 4

a quick scrappy digital drawing

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Day 3

A very quick scrappy pencil drawing of my coffee pot. Very busy today but I am aiming to keep to this even if I have to put some crap up here.

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Day 2

The first thing I wanted to do was give my coffee pot some cover-girl airbrushing and add some drama. So this is my coffee pot after being photoshopped.

Day 1

http://www.hundreddays.net/

As part of the 100 day project I have decided to create an image of the same object every day for 100 days. The aim of this challenge is to develop my artistic style and try out as many ways as possible of illustrating the same thing. My subject is my coffee pot because I wanted to use something very familiar that I see every day. My coffee pot is a VERY IMPORTANT object. I love my coffee pot and this is my homage to it!

DAY ONE:
A photo of my coffee pot, subject of study for the next 100 days.
