Day 30

As mentioned I have been away the last couple of days, this involves a lot of driving up the M4 and M5 in my trusty if elderly Dave (blue Nissan Micra) so todays pic is a sort of travel collage.

Day 29

For the last couple of days I have been staying at my Mum and Dad's for a 'second Christmas'. Whenever I stay with them my Dad brings me a cup of coffee and 2 pieces of chocolate before I get up (spoilt...me!?) This is such a treat that I thought it deserved to be todays bit of illustration, featuring my Dad and his coffee pot!

Back to the art history books. Today's pic is inspired by Paul Klee who liked to 'take a line for a walk'. I haven't done him justice at all, he did some gorgeous paintings. I wonder when I'm trying to recreate their techniques in Corel painter or photoshop if these old artists would be horrified or interested. I like to think they'd want to have a go!

Bit lacking in time and inspiration today...drew a very quick scrappy drawing of coffee pot in his natural habitat and then coloured it in photoshop and played around with some texture.

Boxing day already and over quarter way through the 100 days!! Got up early to do this one ...I am one of the lucky peeps who gets to go to work on Boxing Day!! :)

Back to Corel painter for todays pic. Heavily inspired by Rene Magritte (if he were alive today I'd be worried!)

One thing this project had done is make me pick up Norbert Lynton's very dry 'The Story of Modern Art' which was on my reading list for uni. Bought it in the first week and never opened it once, but it's coming in handy now!

I love retro advertising. 'Mad Men' is one of my all time favourite TV shows. This one done in illustrator again which must be a lot easier than the old days of actual cutting with scissors and pasting with real glue!!

Today I thought I would introduce you to coffee pots cool best friend...travel cafetiere mug! I found a brilliant tutorial showing how to make a photo look old using photoshop and so that is my creative lesson of the day.

'still life with fruit'

Coffee pot has gone all traditional! My main aim in this project was to try out lots of different creative styles I wouldn't normally use. This was done in Corel painter, I'm too impatient to use real paint!!

This was a pretty boring pen and watercolour sketch that I scanned into photoshop and then had a play with some effects, and it came out quite.......purple!

Not sure what style you'd call this. It started off being inspired by posters from 60s and 70s but now it looks a bit African. Hmmm. I may take the first idea further later on. Like the colour combination though.

As part of the 100 day project I have decided to create an image of the same object every day for 100 days. The aim of this challenge is to develop my artistic style and try out as many ways as possible of illustrating the same thing. My subject is my coffee pot because I wanted to use something very familiar that I see every day. My coffee pot is a VERY IMPORTANT object. I love my coffee pot and this is my homage to it!
