Day 90

I've got a notebook by my bed where I write down stuff I remember in the night, usually shopping lists, bills to pay, the occassional creative idea. I was looking through it and a few pages back I had written - 'coffee pot elvis'. Can't remember doing that, I think it was a message from 'the other side' !!

Day 89

Another book cover today. This one inspired by my husbands indecipherable and mind-numbing programming books which lie around the house looking smug.

Friday, February 26, 2010

Day 88

Picked a random book off the shelf for inspiration for this one - it was 'Andrew's Essential Guide to Beginners Golf'

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Day 87

Doing a little bit of coffee research for inspiration I discovered the 'bean belt'. Felt like I was back in school.

Day 86

A kind of Art Deco poster

Day 85

I used to LOVE Super Mario ... this is a slightly modified version!

Day 84

Dreaming of summer holidays and sitting outside with a cold beer watching the world go by! mmmmm :)

Day 83

I know it's not plagiarism week anymore but when it was I was so impressed with NickD's video charcoal drawings I thought I'd copy! I didn't manage to get it finished then, but it fits in nicely now with the theme this weekend. Drawn using Corel Painter (so I don't get mucky fingertips!) - not a patch on Nick's beautiful drawings.
(With big thanks to hubby for his technical know-how!!)

Day 82

I have no idea whether this is going to work or not! I know it's good to keep your brain active and all that, but after this my brain is going into meltdown! So...the challenge was an animation. I'm up for the challenge, but I don't have any animation software. No problem, I find some free to download. That's all ok and I set to learning how to use it. 2 hours later (and yes...there are other things I should be doing!!) I have made a little animation .... great.... except then I realise that this particular software can't export them! grrrr. Anyway, I have something on my pewter that will record what I'm doing so I had to set that up and then play the animation in the programme and record it. So I don't care if it's rubbish....this is the result of about 4 hours of frustration......I'm going for a nap now!!!!

Day 81

Trying out some new cartoony techniques in illustrator today. Just a quick scribble .... busy day ahead...which is why I'm blogging at 5am!

Day 80

Looking around for things to plagiarise last week I thought I’d try some ‘paper engineering’ à la hundred dayer Emma J. Lannie (http://garglingwithvimto.blogspot.com)
and that train of thought carried on to doing this
shadow picture (is it called a shadow if it’s made
from light....I don’t know).
I had a couple of ‘doh!’
moments when I realised I couldn’t put the camera
between the light and the stencil and if I used the flash....no shadow!
Anyway, it worked in the end. And yes I know magnolia woodchip is not fashionable anymore but I couldn’t think of a way to photoshop it out!

Day 79

Sadly can't get to the Hundred Day meet up, but will wear a hat today in solidarity ...as will coffee pot, if he can decide which one! Hope you all have fun xx

Day 78

Daydreaming about being rich and having a garden designer make me a garden with a pool and a coffee pot shaped herb garden!

Monday, February 15, 2010

Day 77

Today I am plagiarising a non-hundred dayer - these are Picasso's Demoiselles d'Avignon enjoying a cup of coffee after having their baths.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Day 76

Today I am paying homage to Ann Danylkiw's 'Positive Penguin' 100 day project. http://positivepenguin.posterous.com/
This is my coffee pot mutated into a 'positive penguin'. He's not very original with his homilies but this is plagiarism week!

Day 75

Today, inspired by Edward Ross's hundred tiny moments http://www.100tinymoments.blogspot.com/ here are some tiny morning coffee moments

Friday, February 12, 2010

Day 74

One of my favourite 100day projects is James Clayton's 'One Hundred Mythical Creatures in Haiku' which is brilliant. http://hundredmythologyhaiku.blogspot.com All I know about mythical creatures is what I learned from watching 'Charmed' (and of course reading Mr Clayton's blog!) so I looked up 'Mythical Coffee Monster' and discovered that apparantly the creature on the Starbuck's logo is a 'Melusine' Don't know why?

I am a day behind with posting. Who knew plagiarism was so complicated. Spent AGES yesterday trying to do something someone else had done. Roped in my long-suffering, very patient husband to help me with the technicals. Faffed and fiddled, but didn't get it finished. So I will have to post Day 73 when I get it worked out.

Day 72

So...it's 'plagiarism week' - hmmmm.... had to play catch-up today with having been away and that was a hard one. There seem to be a few 'hundred-dayers' doing poetry and one I look at every now and again is TaunaLen's http://timelesslyricalephemera.blogspot.com/
I have absolutely NO ability when it comes to creative writing and poetry especially to me is a mystical art practised by very clever people and wizards. I didn't even really know what a haiku was, I had to wiki it. So at the same time I learnt about 'haiga' - the illustrations that sometimes go with them which is more up my street.

Anyway, in the spirit of 'homage week' I have tried a haiku. Please don't laugh.

dark morning kitchen
Mr. coffee pot waits for me
to boil the kettle

Day 71

So, I'm back from muriel painting! This may be a bit of a cheat but as the last couple of days has been full of creative challenge and coffee has been needed to fuel it, here is Oliver's completed, oceanified room and .....introducing.....my brother's coffee pot

Monday, February 8, 2010

Day 70

Been reading 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' (which is brilliant) - I'm not usually into sci-fi stuff but it got me thinking about aliens, then I thought about coffee........

Won't be posting for a couple of days...I've got a job to do for a big, important client (i.e. I am going up to paint a fish muriel on my nephew's bedroom wall ... what do you mean 'don't call me Muriel?') but i will be doing my 100days and will post when I get back.

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Day 69

I've always really liked fruit and veg crates (the wooden ones) even though I know some of them have deadly spiders inside.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Day 68

Fellow hundred dayer Ryan Millar suggested the idea of a book cover. I might do a few of these...textbook, trashy chicklit, sci -fi ....anyway, today's is 'modern, over-hyped, probably-slightly-boring classic' (My days of working in a book shop serve me well here!)

Friday, February 5, 2010

Day 67

Today's picture in the style of Matt the Telegraph cartoonist, suggested by Richard, my brother.

p.s. I've got a daily coffee consumption poll going, have a look down there on the right and let me know 'how much do you drink?'

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Day 66

My family love puns.....i mean they really love puns. So when I mentioned i was running out of coffee pot ideas this is the sort of thing they come up with!
Today is 'The Expresso Train'....thanks Gran! Grandad, I'm working on your 'coffee mourning'

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Day 65

A sort of lego coffee pot

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Day 64

So ... the 100 day subject is Maths. I got that horrible sinking feeling when i read that like i used to just before double maths in school! Never my favourite subject!
Anyway I found a tutorial on making pictures out of numbers and had a go. I probably could have fiddled around with it a lot more but i had one of those 'life's too short' moments.

Monday, February 1, 2010

Day 63

In days of old, when knights were bold, and coffee pots weren't invented...someone had to come up with the idea.
